Ohio Township Association 2010 Scholarship Application
The Ohio Township Association is offering three $1,500 scholarships to high school seniors in an effort to help further the education of students in Ohio. To be considered for a scholarship, student must live in one of Ohio’s 1,308 townships and submit the following information by January 29, 2010:
- Completed scholarship application
- 500-word essay
- Copy of most recent high school transcript
- Two letters of recommendation from teachers and/or community leaders
Scholarships are offered in two categories. One Academic Achievement Scholarship will be awarded and two Local Government Achievement.
Academic Achievement Scholarship
This scholarship is for students who have displayed above average levels of academic achievement. Recipient will receive a one-time award of $1,500. Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be a high school senior during the 2009-2010 academic year
- Have at least a B average (cumulative)
- Have at least a 22 ACT or 1000 SAT score
- Be a resident of a township in Ohio, and
- Plan to attend an accredited two or four-year Ohio college or university in the fall. The college or university must be a public or private institution from which you can receive an associate or bachelor degree.
Local Government Achievement Scholarship
This scholarship will recognize outstanding and innovative leadership efforts with a school, group or club, informal network or organization. Recipient will receive a one-time award of $1,500. The student applying must meet the following requirements:
- Be a high school senior during the 2009-2010 academic year
- Demonstrate outstanding citizenship through service and participation in community activities
- Be a resident of Ohio, and
- Plan to attend an accredited two or four-year college or university in the fall. The college or university must be a public or private institution from which you can receive an associate or bachelor degree.
Deadline:
Completed applications must be received no later than January 29, 2010. Finalists will be notified by March 30, 2010 and asked to take part in an interview. Scholarship winners will be notified by May 3, 2010. Recipients must provide proof of college or university acceptance prior to receipt of award. Scholarship money will be paid directly to each student’s college or university for tuition and other educational expenses.
Applicants are only permitted to receive one scholarship although they may apply for both, if eligible. Winners of the Ohio Township Association 4-H Local Government Scholarship are not eligible for these scholarships.
