New Engine/Rescue Vehicle
Norwich Township Fire Department recently purchased a new engine/rescue vehicle that was custom built by the Sutphen Corporation. It has been more than a year in the building process, which has been closely monitored by a committee of members in the Fire Department. This committee worked diligently at designing and equipping a more effective engine/rescue vehicle. This new engine/rescue vehicle will be used as a pumper on fire runs, on EMS or service runs, as well as in situations where specialized equipment may be needed, such as auto accidents. This new vehicle will replace the existing 1999 engine/rescue vehicle which will be now be used only as needed.
The new engine/rescue vehicle is significantly larger than the one it is replacing. The larger engine/rescue vehicle will allow the necessary rescue equipment to be configured for a more efficient operation. The engine/rescue vehicle will be assigned to Station 81, located at the new Safety Services Building, 5181 Northwest Parkway.
