Schedule your car seat check today!
Car seat checks are scheduled on the first Friday and the third Saturday of each month at
Fire Station 81.
Plan on 30 minutes for one to two car seat checks. If you have more than two car seats, schedule two appointment times. If you would like to include a second vehicle, you will also need to schedule two appointment times. You may have the seat installed and ready to check or have our Certified representative install it for you. Either way, have the car seat out of the box; bring the instructions for the car seat; and, bring your car manual instructions in case we need to reference them.
If our dates do not work for your calendar, click HERE for a list of other options offered throughout the Columbus area. In addition, AAA provides locations by appointment only listed here: http://traffic-safety.ohio.aaa.com/child-safety-seats/? and Safercar.gov provides car seat information including appointments in your area: http://www.safercar.gov/parents/CarSeats/Car-Seat-Safety.htm?view=full. Why schedule a car seat check?
Engineers and manufacturers continue to improve the design of both cars and car seats to keep kids as safe as possible. In order to take advantage of safety features, it’s up to parents to make sure car seats and boosters are installed correctly. According to www.safekids.org, road injuries are the leading cause of preventable deaths and injuries to children. When child safety seats are correctly installed, the risk of death can be reduced by 71%.
Register Your Car Seat
It is also important to register your new or currently used car seat so that you can be notified about future recalls. You can complete the registration card that is included with your car seat and mail it to the manufacturer. Typically you can also find an information sticker on the car seat that allows you to register online with your car manufacturer.
